Last Saturday James took Ethan and I hiking. It was the first day all week that we finally had some sunshine. We were ready to get out of the house and enjoy the beauty of Monterey. It was my first time as the sole photographer, so please be kind as you view. I was trying to practice taking a lot of pictures, so there will be times where it will feel like a play by play, but please enjoy :)

We did two hikes that day and here we are starting out on our first one at the top of the bridge.

A little disclaimer for this next picture...apparantly I am not allowed to take a shower before hiking. I was really lucky I was given time to put my hair in braids. So needless to say, this is the only picture of me you will see.

Ethan was such a trooper climbing down the face of this cliff. There were moments when he was shaking and begging James to carry him down, but that would have been impossible to do. James was able to talk him down it and he was sold on the rock climbing after that. I have to admit there were moments I was quite nervous myself.

This was the view on one side of us...
this was the view on the other side of us. So beautiful! I wish the camera could capture it better.

This is the first cliff that we climbed down.

That log looks innocent, but when it was my turn...lets just say it wasn't so nice to me.
This is where we hiked to get back up to the bridge. We ended up having to cross two rivers without bridges because it had been raining so much.

How could you not love that face?

If you can find James and Ethan in this picture you get a gold star for the day :)
There was another smaller stack of rocks there, so of course James had to build a bigger and better one. Then we had a contest to see who could knock it down first by throwing rocks at it. Who won you ask?...me of course :)

We found some bones on the side of the cliff, so they had to go check them out :/

This is right above the waterfall that we happened upon.

If you can't tell...I liked the waterfall.
It was so beautiful...a waterfall and a beach all to ourselves.

First Day of Kindergarten!!

The first day of kindergarten was filled with excitement and fear. Excitement from Ethan and fear from me. The first pictures are from Meet the Teacher Night. The last two are from the first day before we left the house. I took some very adorable pictures in the car on the way to the school, but they were on my phone and my phone broke before I took the pictures off. Needless to say I was very upset when I realized these pictures were gone forever. So this is all I have :(

On the first day, he walked into the school and to his classroom all by himself. So at Meet the Teacher Night we practiced the way to his room.

Here he is, geared up and ready. He was the most adorable thing, but I was so scared for him when I saw this little boy walking through these oversized doors. Luckily he made it to where he needed to go and had a great day. He has been loving kindergarten ever since...yay!

The Happiest Place On Earth

Ever since Ethan realized what Disney was, I have promised him I would take him to Disneyland when he turned 5. So this summer (I mean hot, muggy August) my family and I took him to Disneyworld. We spent the week going to the Magic Kingdom, the Animal Kingdom, Epcot Center, and Hollywood Studios. So here are a few pictures from our very fun adventure.

We took two days and drove to Florida from Houston. As usual, we stopped and had a picnic lunch along the way.

We stood in lots of hot, crowded lines...but we endured with smiles on our faces.

Dumbo was Jeremy's favorite ride when we were kids. He would ride it over and over and over, so we figured Ethan would love it too. He was so bored...we stood in line for this ride for over an hour and he was less than thrilled. Oh, well. We had to try. He is very much a thrill seeker.

We had a blast and look forward to our next Disney adventure. Ethan can't wait until he's taller and can ride all of the roller coasters. His favorite ride was the Tower of Terror. As we were leaving the park he could barely stay awake, but he kept repeating Tower of Terror, Tower of Terror, Tower of Terror. He couldn't get enough of it, he wanted to ride it again. It was hillarious.
